Primeiramente gostaria de agradecer pelas informações que aqui são disponibilizadas, sobretudo do tópico do marcosbelacon por me ajudar a configurar o flash no firefox 64 bits e rodar meus vídeos.
Segundo, eu testei várias distro, mas sou noob em linux. Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Gentoo, mais uma ou outra, por fim o Fedora 7 me agradou mais. Contudo, excluindo o gentoo, consegui instalar com sucesso o driver da ATI (fglrx) nas outras distros, mas não consegui fazer o mesmo no Fedora 7.
Eu primeiro tentei através do repositório livna e kmods, não consegui fazer funcionar. Então tentie rodando o arquivo do driver ati-xxxx.run que baixa do site da ATI diretamente e também não funcionou. Nesse ponto eu já havia zoado meu arquivo xorg.conf demais, então reinstalei o Fedora 7 de novo. (afinal, noob é noob).
Meu micro é um AMD64 3.2+, a Placa de Vídeo é uma ATI X800 GT. Eu escolhi usar o Fedora 7 X86_64. Infelizmente não consegui achar guias de instalação da placa de vídeo como foi possível em outras distribuições, sobretudo o OpenSuSe que pareceu ter a documentação/ajuda online melhor elaborada que das outras distros.
Como não havia um guia, decidi recolher informações de vários sites e criar meu método de instalação, também não funcionou. >.< Mas vamos aos passos que tomei.
Fiz o download do driver:

E escolhi o pacote necessário:

Conforme foram dando erros, eu segui o necessário para que o comando tivesse sucesso, ou seja, código fonte do kernel, rpmbuild, compiladores, entre outros que eram pré requisitos, quando finalmente obtive sucesso ele gerou os seguintes rpms:
Instalei todos os 5 rpms, e algumas libs que eram pré requisito através do yum/yumex.
Após rebootar o sistema, não entra no X/Gnome e o log file fica dessa forma:

Eu não tenho realmente uma razão pelo processo seguido, eu só segui as mensagens que me foram passadas, o resultado são alguns problemas. Mas primeiro, o xorg.conf original:

Eu coloquei o que era do arquivo original como comentário #, porque achei que poderia ser parte do problema.
O problema é que mesmo voltando para o arquivo original, parece que para carregar o gráfico fica mais lento que o normal (quando se instala o fedora 7 e nenhum user noob ferrou com ele ), mas o que realmente me preocupa em alguma medida é que ele não salva mais a linha
, mesmo eu indo em Administrador > Tela e setando a resolução máxima permitida, isso elimina minha possibilidade de setar o refresh rate em "Resolução de Tela" também. (E se eu mudar o refresh rate, reinicia o X/gnome, mas não aplica o novo refresh rate). Isso é devido a ter que reinstalar o driver "radeon" de alguma forma, embora o sistema o usa ao voltar o xorg.conf original??
Se puderem me ajudar a finalizar a configuração do driver da ATI no fedora, ficaria veridadeiramente grato.
